First John left his aunt and cousins, the only family he'd known, to start a new life with this brother in Des Moines. Then, he set out on his own to western Iowa seek an education and work skills. His courage is astounding.
Beatha is a caring, kind, supportive single mother with a heart as wide as her smile. Her goal: work to support her daughter.
Beatha's daughter is pictured in front wearing yellow. The kids play in the Refugee Community Center, made possible by support of churches, Lutheran Services in Iowa, Catholic Charities and volunteers who donate time, energy, funding, and heart.

It's great to see your pictures and read about all that you're up to in Mongolia. We had a small picnic last Thursday in honor of WRD with families from Iraq, Burundi, Togo, Burma, Sudan, and Somalia. It was a lot of fun!
