Monterey County is such a glorious place in the early fall. The fog finally decides to clear during the day along the coast, leaving bright sunshiny days with few clouds and temps in the 70s and 80s. The jellyfish, sea otters, and sea lions are abundant, along with the occasional migrating dolphin, shark and whale. School is back in session, which means sharpened #2 pencils and plenty of friends around to embark on exciting adventures. This place, and the Central Coast/Bay Area in general, is starting to feel more and more like home. And what a beautiful place to call home.
I'm going to try to post some photos and narratives of my fabulous past two weeks, which have included: a solo road trip through the giant redwoods to northern Humbolt County, river conservation on the Yurok American Indian reservation, beach time in San Francisco, Monterey and Carmel, visits with two of my favorite high school classmates, river swimming, cliff diving and hiking in Los Padres National Forest, kayaking in Eklhorn Slough natural preserve and ... the beginning of my final semester at the Monterey Institute.
It's been a busy, completely fulfilling past two weeks, to say the least. On top of all this, today my brother Ryan bought tickets for a visit to Monterey in a little over a week! I'm feeling like one very blessed girl.
